Connect CommCare so your agent can look up reports and record field submissions during calls.

CommCare runs data collection for health and social programs. Connect your CommCare project and your agent can check which reports exist, confirm a field worker's login and role, and submit form data during or after a call. Your agent can also invite a new web user to your project with the right role. Your team keeps control of permissions, since the agent only acts with the access you grant in CommCare.

What your agent can do with CommCare

  • Confirm a mobile worker's or web user's login, role and assigned location during a call
  • Check which reports are available in your project before answering a data question
  • Submit a completed form, such as a visit or intake record, after the caller finishes
  • Invite a new web user to your project with a set role and permissions
  • Set up a lookup table for reference data such as a price list or product catalog

CommCare exposes 6 actions. You choose which ones the agent may use and whether each runs during or after the call.

Example calls

Field worker checks their access

  1. Caller

Hi, I'm Maria Lopez. I can't open the visit form on my phone this morning.

  2. Agent

Thanks, Maria. Can you confirm your username so I can check your account?

  3. Caller

It's mlopez_north, the same one I used last week.

  4. Agent

I found it. You're set up as a mobile worker in the North district, and your login is active. Try signing in again and let me know if it still fails.

Report question from a program manager

  1. Caller

Do we have a report that shows household visits by week for the last quarter?

  2. Agent

Yes. The Weekly Household Visits report is available in your project. Would you like me to send you the link by text?

  3. Caller

Yes, please send it to this number.

  4. Agent

Done. The link is on its way to your phone now.

Outbound follow-up on a missed intake form

  1. Agent

Hello, this is calling from the Riverside outreach team. Am I speaking with Samuel Osei?

  2. Caller

    Yes, that's me.

  3. Agent

Samuel, the intake form for the Tuesday visit was started but not submitted. Can you tell me the main details so we can record it today?

  4. Caller

Sure. Client was seen at 10:15, and the referral went to the clinic on Harbor Street.

  5. Agent

Thank you. I've submitted the intake record with those details for your supervisor to review.

Questions, answered.

Does the agent work with CommCare during the call or after it?

Both. It can look up a worker's account, check reports and invite a user while the caller is on the line. It can also submit a completed form once the details are confirmed.

What do I need to connect CommCare?

You need a CommCare account with permission for the actions you want, such as Edit Apps or Edit Web Users. Enter your credentials in the CommCare settings in your AgentCalls dashboard. Your agent only uses the access your account has.
